Browning B525 Sporter Reduced Stock

Getting a gun to fit off the shelf can sometimes be a tricky business, especially if you are a youngster, or a female shooter, so Browning has developed the reduced stock version of its famous B525. The gun comes with a selection of recoil pads for a perfect fit and to adapt the gun to someone still growing. A selection of chokes is included and it is proofed for steel shot. Price: £1,879

Webley & Scott Ladies 900 Boudicea shotgun

Designed for ladies or people with a smaller frame, the Boudicea has a shorter length of pull than average and an adjustable comb. As with all Webley & Scott 12-bores, the 900 comes with the equipoise balance system to allow the gun to be personalised for your shooting style. It comes with five multichokes and is available in 12 and 20-gauge with a choice of 28in or 30in barrels.

Browning 525 Sporter 1

This new B525 Sporter 1 is a masterclass in the less is more philosophy with its relatively plain steel action combined with grade 2 Turkish walnut. The one we saw at the show had a steel trigger blade, but production models might have the Browning signature gold-plated one. The gun is steel proofed, comes with multichokes and has a choice of 28in or 30in barrels. A true left-hand version is available.

Browning Liberty Light True Left Hand

Browning has upped its game by offering true left-handed options on most models this year. This gun opens by pushing the lever to the left instead of the right. The Liberty Light is designed for women or people with a smaller frame and has a choice of butt pads, so it can be adapted to fit. The aluminium frame is light and more wieldy. Comes with multichokes and is steel proofed.

Beretta A400 XCEL Sporting Grey ATS

The A400 has undergone a major update, with AquaTechShield finish on the action and larger controls to make it easier to operate. The pistol grip and fore-end have been reshaped for more dynamic handling and the rib has had a redesign for competition use. It retains mid-stock kick-off recoil management and balancing systems and comes with shims.

Webley & Scott Kilworth side-by-side shotgun

The Kilworth is designed for those who prefer a coin-finished side-by-side without sideplates. It’s cheaper than the Imperial and has a single trigger, multichokes and is steel proofed. There is some engraving on the action and the fences, but apart from that, the gun is wonderfully understated. Available in gauges .410, 28, 20, 16 and 12, and barrel lengths 28in and 30in.

Beretta BRX1 Rifle

Better known for its shotguns, Beretta has now brought out a hunting rifle with a linear reloading system. Boasting accuracy, reloading speed and safety, the BRX1 has an ambidextrous bolt and extraction. Spacers can be added to the stock to tailor length of pull and trigger weight is adjustable (950g to 1,500g). Calibres include .30-06, .308 Win and .300 Win Mag. Price £1,500

Chapuis Armes Rols Performance (.308 Win)

This new rifle has a one-piece thumbhole stock that is ergonomically designed to reduce fatigue and so aid accuracy. The grip is designed so the shooter can easily return their hand to it after cycling the bolt. The stock has a soft-touch feel, giving it a better hold. A left-handed version is available and iron sights are an option.

Jaeger NXT .308 Win

This new straight-pull rifle from Haenel boasts an impressive system that enables the speed loading of traditional straight-pull rifles with the safety of a kick-down manual cocking device and chamber lock. The bolt handle can be locked for stalking and handling. The barrel is optimised for non-toxic ammunition and the stock is lightweight laminated beech, offering synthetic-stock durability, but in a more environmentally friendly format. Price: £2,095
