Barry Stoffell is a freelance Fieldsports writer, geologist and knifemaker. Having lived and worked from the Equator to the Arctic, he is now happily settled in Ireland, where he is mostly to be found in the mountains and forests of south Kerry with a pair of Irish Setters.

Although a devoted champion of many Irish fieldsports and country pursuits, he spends a significant portion of each year observing, photographing, managing, stalking, cooking and consuming his favourite animal, the Japanese sika, and is a passionate advocate for getting more local game onto local plates.

Barry also has a slightly dusty doctorate in geochemistry that doesn’t get used as often as it used to, and runs a knifemaking workshop.
